McQ OmniSense Unattended Ground Sensor System

Available is a McQ OmniSense Unattended Ground Sensor System.  This system is used by the US Customs and Border Patrol and other federal law enforcement agencies.

All components are new (with the exception of the CF30 laptop).  I also have used components and can sell a system at a lower price point.  Email me for details.

This unattended ground sensor system is complete and includes everything needed to secure your property or vunerable sites including utilities, oil & gas and other critical infrastructures.

Includes 15 Sensors, called CORE units, with internal seismic and magnetic sensors.  Additional CORE units are available along with passive infrared sensors and external seismic sensors.

OmniSense CORE sensors have a mix of transducers (Seismic, Acoustic, Magnetic, and PIR)  The CORE also has the capability to connect an external seismic transducer giving the Operator more flexibility in sensor placement. The CORE units detect targets and report the activity.

Includes:

Panasonic CF-30 Laptop

TacSAD Operating System Software

Operations Manual

15 CORE Units – (3) CORES will come with external Passive Infrared Sensors

Base Station – Using RF system to receive/send messages to sensors connecting to TCP/IP network where it sends receives messages from the OmniSense Server.

15 – Bren-Tronics BB-2590 Batteries – Each Core unit will hold 3 BB-2590 Batteries lasting up to 2 years before needing to be recharged – New BB-2590 batteries cost $250-350ea.  Extra batteries can be included.

Antennas – Each CORE comes with an antenna

GPS Antennas – Each CORE comes with a GPS antenna

The CORE units are meant to be buried and are packaged in rugged units that seal out dust and dirt, survive submersion in water up to three feet in depth, and operate over a temperature range of (-25 C) to (50 C). The CORE sensors can be equipped with a variety of communications that operate over spread spectrum modems at 900 MHz. The communications architecture is highly flexible to fit most operational scenarios. The spread spectrum RF links provide line of sight connectivity for ranges up to 10 kilometers when directive antennas are used, and up to 1 kilometer when omni directional antennas are used.

OmniSense Remote Sensor System Background

The OmniSense Remote Intrusion Detection System has pioneered the path for very smart sensor systems. It is the first system to combine information from multiple sensors to dramatically reduce false alarms. It is the first to fully network remote sensor systems so that databases, displays, and system control can be distributed to any point in the world served by a network. OmniSense is the latest state of the art in intrusion detection systems with advanced sensor detection, communications and operator display technology. The technology results in an extremely capable remote sensor system that is easy to use, can be flexibly reconfigured for a variety of operations, is portable and quickly setup, and is designed to be rugged for field operations. The US Army has cited OmniSense as “One of the Greatest Inventions of 2006.” OmniSense is a fully operational system deployed with great success in the current warfighting areas by the U.S. military. OmniSense is also deployed by the U.S. military in other global areas for monitoring activities in areas of interest. OmniSense has been selected by Boeing as the unattended ground sensor system for the SBInet border monitoring program. In many areas along our Southern and Northern borders unattended ground sensors are needed because hilly or mountainous terrain, along with forests and foliage prevent tower mounted sensors from being able to “see” illegal crossing activity. These unattended ground sensors also provide an invisible boundary that either augments or supplants a physical fence to warn when illegal traffic has crossed the border into the United States.

McQ‟s OmniSense Remote Intrusion Detection System has very advanced features that make it the leading system available. McQ has advanced its proven OmniSense product to provide a sensor system for border crossing detection, perimeter defense, force protection in hostile areas, pipeline and petroleum facility protection, critical infrastructure facility protection, denied area monitoring, and battlefield detection of forces. McQ has pushed the state of the art in remote intrusion detection systems for over fifteen years. This has resulted in very advanced sensor capabilities that can substantially improve the monitoring of activities in remote areas. McQ has incorporated technologies we have developed into the OmniSense system that address many remote area monitoring applications. This system makes the task of monitoring remote areas both less people intensive and also much more effective in detecting activities. The OmniSense Sensor System integrates activity detection sensors and target imaging into an advanced system that provides Network and Internet connectivity with distributed Situation Awareness displays. The operator does not have to stare at display screens, which has never been an effective way to monitor activity. The system provides aural and visual alerts showing on a map where the activity is occurring. These alerts can be automatically forwarded via Email, pagers, cell phones or specialized network interfaces to users.

Description of the OmniSense CORE Sensor

The OmniSense CORE Unit is designed for very low power consumption and hence, very long life. The CORE Unit is also designed so that it can be used to cover large geographic areas. The CORE Unit detects targets using Seismic, Acoustic, Magnetic, and Passive IR. The operator can choose which sensor combination provides the best detection capability and program the unit for its specific capabilities. The CORE unit has an RF modem to send its detection information directly or indirectly to the TNet Communication Architecture, which forwards the CORE information via a TCP/IP network to the Central computer/Server. The terrestrial network also delivers command and control messages from the user to the CORE units. The CORE Units have the seismic and magnetic sensors built into the case to minimize external cabling for the operator when they are installed. The Passive IR (PIR) sensor and the Acoustic sensor are connected to the CORE Unit case using external cables. The CORE also allows the monitoring of two independent switches and controls an output switch closure set of controls. The CORE sensor provides a connector for an external geophone if the mission requires one. These CORE sensors provide cost effective coverage for large geographic
